The Kent-based business, which launched in 1986 from its founder, Peter Waddell from his home in Tenyham, has announced on the 11th April that they have seen Freshstream in invest in the car supermarket.
Big Motoring World has an ambitious growth plan which has seen the acquisition of two new premises in Peterborough that had been operated by SW Car Supermarket in 2021 coupled with a rebrand in February this year.
The Freshstream investment which is undisclosed was from Peter Waddell and John Bailey. John Bailey leaves the business at this point with Peter Waddell remaining as CEO.
Big Motoring World operates from five sites employing over 650 staff and selling an average of 22,000 cars a year, placing it in the top 10 dealers across the UK. Big Motoring World prides itself on providing a wide range of choice of quality used cars combined with a customer service focus.
As well as direct sales of second-hand cars, it provides a broad range of services and products, including financing commission, warranties and insurance.
This is the third investment by Freshstream since it spun out of Bregal Investments in 2020 with Freshstream commenting “We are thrilled to be supporting the Big Motoring World team on the next chapter of their development. They have built a well-regarded platform and are well-positioned to capitalise on the sector trends in the coming years.”
