While it hasn't been crash tested by Euro NCAP yet, other Hyundais such as the ix35 and i30 have received five stars in the safety tests and ix20 should perform on a similar level. There are plenty of safety features as standard including driver and passenger airbags, side airbags and curtain airbags for rear passengers. Stability control also comes as standard as well as active head restraints to protect occupants against whiplash. Surprisingly this car performs incredibly well in this department, despite its more compact look from the outside. Boot space alone is an impressive 440 litres with all seats in place – that's 23 litres more than a Volvo V50. Fold down the seats and there is a maximum capacity of 1486 litres. There is also a hidden storage unit in the boot which is useful for putting shopping in to stop it sliding around the main boot. There are also a number of stowage compartments for putting drinks bottles or smaller spaces for putting your mobile phone or loose change in.
