Under the bonnet sits the legendary OM642 3.0-litre V6 turbo diesel, paired with Mercedes-Benz's smooth automatic transmission. It is an engine perfectly suited to the R-Class: powerful, refined and wonderfully effortless over long distances. The Automatic Transmission Service was performed by Mercedes-Benz of York, while the latest engine service was completed recently at 106706 miles. The LWB R350 CDI Sport is now a genuinely rare sight, particularly with seven seats, the OM642 V6, 14-service history and this level of preservation. Huge inside, remarkably refined and wonderfully individual, it represents an era when Mercedes-Benz was prepared to engineer something simply because nobody else had.
