A New Chapter for Aberdeen’s Automotive Landscape: The Peter Vardy Carz Branch Closure

In a significant shakeup in Aberdeen’s automotive scene, the Peter Vardy Carz branch located on Lang Stracht has ceased all operations. This closure not only affects MOTs and servicing but marks the end of an era for the dealership. In a turn of events, it has been hinted that a seamless transition is on the horizon for the employees, with Arnold Clark reportedly offering positions to the staff amidst a deal anticipated to be sealed shortly.

The Lang Stracht branch, nestled among other key players like Arnold Clark and Park’s Toyota, has been a prominent fixture on this bustling Aberdeen road. Rumors swirled and were later confirmed that the dealership was acquired by Arnold Clark, leading to its closure on February 28. This transition sees some staff members moving to their new roles at Arnold Clark, with company training slated to start from March 1.

Amidst this transition, a spokesperson from Peter Vardy has indicated that official statements are pending until the finalization of all legal proceedings.

This closure is not an isolated incident but part of a broader narrative of changes within Peter Vardy. The company has witnessed the closure of several branches, including those in Perth and Dundee, underscoring a period of transformation within the company. Just last week, the announcement of the Perth dealership’s closure broke, revealing plans to transform the site into a luxury car preparation facility.

The Dundee showroom’s closure last August came as a surprise, especially given its recent establishment with a significant investment. The decision was influenced by challenges in securing a steady supply of used cars. This closure paved the way for John Clark to repurpose the site for a multi-franchise operation.

These developments reflect the evolving dynamics within the automotive industry in Aberdeen and beyond, signaling a time of change and adaptation for dealerships and their employees.
